Student Union of Kaunas University of Technology (KTU SA)
KTU Student Union (KTU SA) is the strongest organization of the University where all members of the young academic community are welcomed. Students Union is the University of Life and every student can take part in it. Our aim is to prove that every student of KTU is an active leader of the society.
Members of KTU SA represents students in the Senate, the Rectorate, councils of faculties, various commissions of the University, and the Lithuanian Student Union, where opinion of KTU SA is very solid. There they can express student opinion and help to solve important problems. Representatives of KTU SA participate in and organize various seminars, conferences and seek to acquire various types of knowledge that can help them improve student life inside and outside the University.
The Student Union of KTU was established in 1993 because of the need to initiate and strengthen the positions of students and represent their views at university and behind its boundaries. Today the organization unites about 500 students who work in 13 different faculties or in the central Student Union.

Mission:
We are creating a student environment, which provides opportunities to study qualitatively; encourages uninhibited self-expression, creativity and civil activity. We are doing that in cooperation with academical community, delegates of enterprise and government.
Strategic intentions
- To create an effective model of organization with a clear structure of responsibilities, system of motivation and encouragement. This would make possibilities for members of Student Union of Kaunas University of Technologies to improve their personal perfection, to express themselves in all kind of ways and to develop their capacity.
- To create and indoctrinate studies quality amendment instrumentality package for KTU.
- To embody propitious image and reputation of Student Union of KTU activities using means of public relations.
- To increase the representation of students interests in national level, through effectively working structure of administration of Lithuanian Students League.
- To safeguard the stability of income, when the sponsorship is received for various actions which are held by Student Union of KTU. To expand the package of social facilities.
- To develop the dormitory town considering the needs of students and appropriate facilities.
- To stimulate the collaboration of Student Unions of different KTU faculties.
Structure
There are many questions which individual students can not solve for themselves. This requires representatives. Therefore, groups of elders, handling billing and exam schedules, are caring for a variety of information transmission. Faculty of questions helps to address faculty student representation. Every year, each faculty meets students' conference, attended by all academic groups. They elect members to the Student Mission and the chairman who cares about his students’ affairs in the deans, the Faculty Council and other activity. Difficulties of all students of the University-wide need KTU Student Union, governed by democratic governance.
Student Conference of the democratic process elects seven students of each Faculty, who are delegated to the KTU SA Conference to decide on the most important issues in all KTU level. Here, faculty representatives elects president of KTU SA, together with the Bureau organizes and carries out the entire organization. We can not leave without mentioning of the Parliament, where a representative elected by each faculty student conferences, discuss, plan and undertake various important decisions. The legitimacy of KTU SA activity is reviewed annually by the Conference elected the Control Commission. KTU SA has honorary members, who represent Honorary Board, examine KTU SA's activities and provide suggestions.
KTU SA members represent students in Kaunas University of Technology Senate, the Rector, the Faculty Council and the Lithuanian students' union, where the KTU SA has especially valuable votes.
Kaunas University of Technology is one of the largest universities in Lithuania, so it is not surprising that the KTU SA has serious and active people, who get everything that they want with only their work. Any work is carried out to the end and is not done without meaning. Therefore, the organization is a respected in the large society. It is only from our own depends what people represent us. Student responsibility - to choose the best, and the latter – not to disappoint those who elected them...
Activity
KTU SA name suggests that all activities are for students good. Each year, directly with you we face when:
- mediating the allocation of scholarships and grants, loans;
- trying to know more about comfort in dormitories;
- Caring for studies and employment issues in Lithuania and abroad;
- organizing cultural and sports events.
- Lithuanian student cards (LSC) issues;
The main activity of KTU SA is the student representation in university. It is very important for us that you won’t forget us if you have serious concerns. It is true without arguing that the University is the second house for us, but a good home is only when they are safe, warm and cute. We are the aim that everything will be this way.
In activities of KTU SA highlights the enormous importance of students unions of different faculties, through which we have perfect conditions for fast and high quality information spread in all academic community, by which the festivals are arranged and are famous not only in Kaunas. During the Faculty student union (FSU) coordinate student representation in university.
It is also successfully developing international relations. In September 2004, for the first time in Lithuania because of us was developing an international student conference "BALTECH", which was attended by academic youth from Latvia, Estonia, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Norway and, of course, from Lithuania. In 2005 was executed a unique international project “XXIa. Catacombs” during which students from Lithuania, Turkey, Hungary and Greek in Kaunas Sobor founded the museum for the blind. In 2006 in Kaunas was another international project "Plan Your Career" which was attended by students from five countries.
We perform a wide range of other local projects, such as "Do not be foreign to the information society", "Vote and choose”. They helped the students to actively participate in the referendum, celebrate the accession to the European Union; we were a part of action "Lithuania - brightest of the new European country". We also performed INTERPARTY for foreign students studying in Lithuanian high schools, and others. We are actively collaborating with student, youth and other organizations. Kaunas University of Technology in conjunction with the Career Center is organizing a "KTUCareer Days”, during which students can find a practice or work.
